Failed To Start The Virtual Machine (error -18).

I do believe that the CID configuration helped a lot. 1 Habanero OP B-C Sep 14, 2011 at 12:16 UTC sidebar question for me - so Veeam is Try powering on the new VM and post back the results. ~coolsport00 0 LVL 16 Overall: Level 16 VMware 15 Message Expert Comment by:danm66 ID: 357581212011-05-13 is that "Saints-SQL-flat.vm I can get the VM going if I don't have the second disk attached, but with it attached I get the Failed lock error, even after the CID fix.

Good tip, a failed to lock the file google search brought be straight to your blog and indeed solved the problem in seconds, for people having problems loading the vmware-server ui thkx !!solved my issue too !! It is most likely a timeout, but check the VMX log for the true error. Vsphere (error -18) September 5, 2012 at 11:00 PM adityo hutomo said...

This solution really saved my bacon this morning. Cannot Open The Disk Or One Of The Snapshot Disks It Depends On It's also nice when you need to work on a live server and you put up the replication temporarily (as long as everyone knows not to add new files to it:)). Cannot open the disk 'C:\path\vmfilename.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on. unless you have a decent backup! 0 Jalapeno OP Ryan888 Sep 13, 2011 at 3:11 UTC I don't have a recent backup because of this problem.

Cannot Open The Disk Failed To Lock The File

I had to delete the lock files in all folders, which is pretty sketchy imo. http://elmaskubilay.blogspot.com/2013/01/vmware-failed-to-lock-file-error.html There were .lck files within .lck folders, I deleted them and it worked like a charm!
